One example is not enough any more!
Interview Boards have become wise to the one-dimensional competency-based interview – where you were asked for a single example of a situation where you achieved results, solved problems or whatever. To make the mark all you had to do was to tell your story in STAR format – clearly illustrating you had understood the competency in question and had delivered results at the appropriate level for the job you were applying for.
Not any more. Interviewers have always been wise to the formulaic question and answer cliché-ridden interview but from what I am hearing from my clients they are now asking for alternative examples, your breadth and depth of experience in that area and how your example might relate to the job you are applying for.
